October 31, 2012 - Reaxis Inc., a specialty chemical manufacturer headquartered in McDonald, PA, has been selected to receive the 1st Annual Pennsylvania Sustainable Small Business Award. This prestigious award from The Duquesne University Center for Green Industries and Sustainable Growth will be presented at the 2012 Beard Sustainability Symposium on November 1, 2012. The award panel reviewed significant business efforts and achievements by Reaxis Inc. centered around four pillars of sustainability: economic, environmental, social, and ethical.

The history of Reaxis Inc. dates back to 1935 with the incorporation of Pitt Metals. The company initiated the manufacture of inorganic tin compounds in the 1970s. Pitt Metals was acquired by Th. Goldschmidt AG of Essen, Germany in 1993 and the company became Goldschmidt Industrial Chemical Corporation. Goldschmidt was subsequently acquired by SKW AG (now Evonik). In 2006, Goldschmidt became an independent company, fully owned by management. The company name was officially changed to Reaxis Inc. in 2008.
Headquartered in McDonald, PA, Reaxis manufactures an extensive range of products that are used in numerous industries including plastics, coatings (paints), elastomers, adhesives, sealants, personal care, hydrogen peroxide stabilization, oil/gas drilling applications, electronics and lubricants. Reaxis recently commemorated the opening of their second R&D and manufacturing facilities at the U-PARC industrial complex.
